Dicovery consists of seeing what everybody has seen and thinking what nobody has thought. A. Einstein 03/19/2011
Soldiers to Scholars is recording the oral histories of military Veterans that are residents of retirement facilities. This blog is a conversation to help develop techniques for conducting oral histories. Share your thoughts, experience, websites, literature, or video that will help in this effort. Consider how to ask good questions, tips creating a comfort level, keeping the interview on track, knowledge about military Veterans and providing valuable information for viewers. Ask the forum questions that you might have about oral history in general, specific questions you have about military Veterans, or even questions that you about how, and why you should, participate. Don’t be nervous to ask or to be wrong when responding. We are all here to learn and no one has all the answers. Remember, as long as we conduct our work with integrity, compassion, and give maximum effort; we will still make mistakes and have interviews that do not go as well as we had hoped. Our effort will be evident and our mistakes will be understandable to the men and women who want to share their story.
